No. 1 Soy Candle

No. 1 tells the story of where Firelands Wax began – the first candle I ever made. At the time I was running a local gift crate business and we needed a candle that could be gifted to people without knowing their tastes. After much research and not finding what I wanted locally, I decided to make my own, settling on this fragrance because it was described as clean, herbal, and reliable – the very qualities I needed. I figured if I couldn’t make a good candle out of it, I couldn’t make a candle at all.

Well, it was a hit. Nuanced, botanical, and deeply inviting with a strong scent throw both hot and cold, I called it Oakmoss & Amber and started making candles. It quickly became a customer favorite and created the demand that would eventually turn the crate business into a candle one. Despite the love, I phased it out when I embraced more single note scents, but the demand didn’t stop. Customers kept asking for her and I realized that she had earned a permanent spot in my collection, but with a new name: No. 1 as the origin of everything that came after.

Blending earthy oakmoss and warm amber with notes of citrus, sage, and lavender, No. 1 is subtly sensual with a universal appeal across people, moods, rooms, and seasons. It’s clean, refined, and effortlessly balanced between masculine and feminine energies – filling any space, from airy foyers to cozy nooks, with a fresh yet elegant atmosphere.

Hand-poured with clean-burning, non-toxic ingredients, No. 1 remains our most universally loved scent – proof that sometimes, you really can get it right the first time.
